Xander wants to make the world a better place -- not because he has any illusions of grandeur or desire to be a hero, but because there's a lot of shitty stuff out there and if he can do something to help, he feels he should.
Calm, patient, rational and notoriously difficult to offend, he's not afraid to admit if he's wrong and sees no sign of weakness in being convinced he is. (After all -- if he expects others to change their mind, shouldn't he be willing to?) However, he knows the difference between right and wrong and is unshakeable in those beliefs, no matter how smooth his verbal opponent may think themselves. Social interaction was a somewhat stressful and bewildering experience as a child, but this is no longer true -- while still comfortable in his own company, people are no longer the mystery they used to be, and Xander is quite fond of them as a rule. He understands the difference between what they want and what they need, and quickly develops a reputation for reliable advice in whatever group he's a part of. He does have a habit of neglecting friendships to pursue his goals, but it's not deliberate or malicious. He tends to surround himself with extroverts, being so introverted himself, and strongly believes that everyone would be much happier if they just knew what they purpose in life was. He therefore encourages others to achieve their potential and chase their dreams, although he won't force the issue. |
Soft spoken and very much a pacifist, Xander defaults to the mediator role in any group -- but although he prefers to avoid conflict and will try to avoid it, he won't let someone walk over him. He tends to feel strong emotions but thinks before he speaks, usually retaining his calm. He considers losing his temper to be a shameful thing and it is an unnerving thing to behold when he does, which he isn't afraid to use to his benefit. He despises being the cause of pain or distress even when it's for someone's good, and struggles to relax -- laughter from him is uncommon, though his smiles are always sincere.
He considers The Rules to be of the utmost importance, and is loathe to break one for any reason. He genuinely enjoys teaching and will do so at anyone's request; he's intelligent and quick to grasp new ideas, respecting mental prowess over brute strength, but refusing to think less of those who disagree. He often disapproves of the life choices others make but doesn't believe it's his place to judge, let alone lecture, and for the most part will keep his opinions silent unless specifically asked.
He takes a lot of pride in his appearance, and isn't the slightest bit ashamed of this -- his clothes are always neat and ironed, his skin unblemished, and his nails trimmed and manicured. However, since he has zero understanding of fashion, he defaults dark suits, which are solemn and serious and always match. He believes that a good first impression is never a bad thing, and won't shy away from positive attention.

Xander will never be a fighter, and refuses to apologise for this -- he strongly believes that violence is never the answer, and often refuses to even go on missions lest he gets dragged into a battle. He finds the inevitable destruction that happens as a result of these mildly distressing, and is much more comfortable behind the scenes, where he is a natural strategist and a much needed rational voice in the teams often volatile disagreements.
Atum-Re expected this, and instead of forcing weapons on his scion, offered a tome that is the sum of all the knowledge he believes he will need -- as such, Xander can discover almost as much about the war and their opponents as Vlad already knows, if he can only figure out the right questions. He plans attacks reluctantly but well, and the team is usually well prepared when they leave. Lexi adopts him almost immediately as her second-in-command; initially this is because she likes him, but it turns out he's pretty good at it. Though he has basic training with a fencing sword, he's never used it in a legitimate battle and would probably be awful. He's light on his feet and would be decent at reconnaissance if he wasn't so hesitant to engage the enemy when caught. |
Against all expectations, Xander has the most divine strength of them all -- it's true that his father didn't gift him any weapons and respects his pacifism, but he's not going to leave his son weak, if only as a matter of pride. He could easily take down any of the team -- possibly even Vlad -- but he would prefer if this never came to light.
At the end of his journey he becomes a giant snake and takes up residence under a small desert village. They accept him as their god, and he offers them guidance and wisdom.
Later on, they offer him sacrifices.

The second youngest of five, Xander always knew what he wanted to do with his life -- while his siblings were off with their dump trucks and dolls, he was banging a rock on the dirt and ruling which bee was allowed to pollinate which flower. It was only when he was older he realized what he could do with the law in the grand scheme of things, and began to aggressively pursue it as a career.
The only sibling within five years of him was his youngest sister, and though they were close as children, they drifted apart once he started high school.
His father -- who owned an exterminator business -- was never satisfied with Xander and his pacifism, and though his mother was more accepting, that didn't change the idle sense of disappointment. Undeterred he persevered, fighting for a scholarship and refusing to be a financial burden on his family. Almost inevitably, he was successful.

Mei It didn't take long for Xander to be wooed by Mei's optimism and infectious cheerfulness, although it was quite a bit longer before he found himself in love. He genuinely enjoys helping her achieve her potential, and feels a deep satisfaction at seeing her blossom. Their relationship lasts a long time, and he is happy for most of it. Lucas For what he is, Xander like Lucas just fine -- but he is often frustrated by how easily the other rises to Lexi's bait, and even more when he discovers that reason and logic will never change Lucas' mind. They are never close and clash almost constantly, although it is very civil, and neither holds a grudge over their disagreements. |
Atem-Re Xander is the only one that truly sees his divine parent as a god, and the fact they are related by blood in no way influences his decision to follow orders without question -- if anything, he believes to see him as his father would be doing a great disservice to the deity he serves. Lexi Having met her in law school, Xander was well aware that Lexi was a spoiled party girl -- but even he was mildly surprised that she was capable of change. He likes her as a person, but would be the first to admit her flaws. However, he also believes she's the best choice they have. It is sometimes unclear if the reason they are never really friends is because of her insistence at keeping him at arms length, or his inability to see past her being leader. Lily Xander thinks Lily is just great. Her deadpan humour and habit of surprising him are entertaining -- but she holds his attention because she is so good at hiding things, and not in spite of this. He listens when she speaks, but otherwise they don't interact, due to a mutual dislike of small talk and not really having much in common. |
- Is fully capable of cooking extremely intricate dishes, but follows the recipe exactly. His plating is careful and meticulous - As a kid, he had a goldish called Finn - His tome is written in hieroglyphs (which he must learn to read), and so during the war, he mostly just communicates with the vocal entity of the book instead |
