Name : Lucas Conner Mitchell
Age : 25
Eye colour : Blue
Hair : Shoulder blade length; dark blonde and straight
Nationality : Canadian
Body type : Heavily muscled (but eternally pale)
Outfits : Surgically attached to beanie. Wears multiple layers -- t-shirt + hoodie + jacket. Old jeans and old sneakers. Gives no fucks about fashion
Short personality : Independent, confrontational, hot-headed and rarely seen without a scowl. Eternally uncomfortable around people and only truly relaxed in solitude. Attempts to be social or encouraging are clumsy, often go badly, and inevitably lead to much brooding. He's frustrated by laziness and boasts loudly about his abilities, though he never exaggerates.

Lucas is a simple creature. All he wants is to be left alone.
He is entirely unaware of the fact his entire view of life is built on blatant double standards -- of course it's justified to be offended if one of the team hesitates before relying on him, but why would he put his trust in someone else when he could just do it himself and not fuck it up? He takes deception personally and will hold a grudge until the end of his days, but won't give a second thought to hiding his own thoughts, even if it means lying to those around him. He's too proud to ever ask for help, but doesn't see someone else needing it as a sign of weakness.
In saying all this, duty and obligation will always take priority over petty squabbles and hurt feelings; no matter what happens or how much he personally despises someone, if they're fighting together they might as well be blood.
Being around people constantly forces Lucas outside of his comfort zone, and that level of stress means it takes very little for him to lose his temper -- he tries to be supportive and tolerant, but he doesn't know how to be and quickly fails, which he then takes as proof he's doomed to be alone forever and a reason to sulk in the corner until something new and irritating drags him out. He finds affection very uncomfortable, and prefers the company of people just as blunt as he is -- at least then he doesn't need to try and figure out the subtleties of human interaction. Everyone is treated the same regardless of status or gender, and he can express every emotion he feels with a scowl or glare.
How hard it is to offend him on a personal level is dependent on the time of day, the alignment of the stars, and how many marshmallows he got in his Lucky Charms. He considers achieving your potential to be the most valuable thing someone can achieve in their lifetime, and admires people who strive to improve even if they fail miserable. In contrast, he is repulsed by laziness and infuriated by people who don't try. Though not competitive, he's much calmer and more focused when he has a rival.

In the beginning, all Lucas can offer is to get punched a lot and then start punching back. In the end, this is still all he has to contribute.
In saying that, it's more than enough and his efforts as the tank save the team on more than one occasion, and impress them every time without fail. In his element -- such as the snow -- he is a fantastic tracker, but this tends to lead to him seeking out opponents stronger than him just for the challenge. Things like an actual fighting style, strategy, or even speed are beyond him -- he relies solely on brute strength. Whether or not he personally likes the one in charge, he follows orders like a good little soldier; while well aware that blind obedience is a flaw and not a strength, he still struggles to disobey and finds himself conflicted when he doesn't want to follow a command. Had things gone differently and he'd been given a bit more of a chance, he might have become a decent leader in his own right. He retreats back to the mountains of his childhood once his transformation begins; his is slower than the rest, and he has plenty of time to understand what is happening and how much he has left to lose. In the end, he is little more than a cautionary tale -- beware what's just past the edge of the light, children, or else you might become the monster. |
PAST
Raised in the Rocky Mountains by his grandfather after his mother died, Lucas was isolated while he was still a toddler and remained so until he was 15, when his grandfather also dropped dead. This time he was shipped off to the city, where his newly-wed uncle lived; the couple had no children of their own, and decided taking in an orphaned teen would be gratitude enough for their many blessings.
Naturally, Lucas hated everything from where he lived to who he was, in an of himself. He pined constantly for the snow and solitude of his home, and the only reason he suffered through the tiny injustices and offences of daily life was because he understood that one day, when all this was done, he would get to escape again.
Upon his attempt to exit the city, Ullr appeared and ordered him to go back and fight the monsters. Lucas obeyed.e to edit.

Lily Though he initially dismissed her and her overwhelming apathy, Lucas realized his error once he was forced to rely on her and she didn't let him down. He both admires and is attracted to her skill in battle (as well as her personal strength), and their rivalry keeps him grounded. They are generally found together and he is more relaxed in her company than anyone else's, even if he remains eternally bewildered by her erratic flirtations. |
Uller Though he denies it, it's clear how Lucas feels about his father -- and that is that he's intimidating, awe-inspiring, and completely impossible to refuse. He can't help but assume that Uller knows best, and trusts him implicitly. Xander While Xander deserves respect for his intelligence -- and significantly less offensive leadership tactics -- Lucas can't get past how much of a pacifist he is, and their interaction is tense. He won't pick fights with him, but clearly resents how much Lexi respects the Egyptian. |
Lexi
Lexi is an arrogant bitch who refuses to even treat her team like they're human beings, and he would never pass up an opportunity to remind her of this. As time goes on he becomes increasingly enraged by her existence, and the fact she isn't nearly as awful a leader as she should be does nothing to soothe the fire. He is entirely unaware that she does not, in fact, hate him, and wouldn't believe anyone who told him so. Mei Despite being the doe-eyed team pet, Lucas still finds Mei irritating and boring until she starts standing up for herself. After that point he still avoids her, concerned that if he so much as looks at her for too long, she'll shatter into a bunch of itty-bitty pieces. |
