Though not rebellious by nature, Lily's priority has always been to make sure she's not unhappy -- if other people end up satisfied then that's all well and good, but there's no way she's going out of her way to make it happen. She has an iron will and there will be no forcing her to do something she doesn't want to, or changing her mind once it's made up.
Her default state is one of blase acceptance by way of utter boredom, so even if things don't work out okay she doesn't much care. Even when she feels a full range of emotion she struggles to expression this, and tends to over-exaggerate her feelings to avoid confusion. Aside from not being miserable, photography is The Most Important Thing. Both deeply personal and cathartic, she won't hesitate to let someone else get harmed if it means getting a more impressive shot. When she looks through the lens she sees all the subtle things so easily missed in daily life, and there's a kind of satisfaction in knowing she knows more than everyone around her. |
Lily rarely connects with another living being, making empathy and sympathy strange concepts for her to grasp -- and she sees no point in faking it. The biggest indication that she cares is that she bothers to converse with them, even if she's distracted; it's a small and easily missed gesture, but it's not something she will draw attention to or be offended at being missed. Learned gestures of affection -- such as kissing her mother on the cheek before leaving the house -- are deliberately stiff and robotic, since she resents her own expectations at following these demands. She's fine with being social and around people, but is happier observing that interacting and isn't the type to feel lonely.
In conversations she is blunt, sometimes to the point of utter rudeness; she won't hesitate to lie to further her goals, but refuses to do so just to spare someone's feelings. However, since she has just as much issue taking criticism as giving it, it's difficult to offend her.
Lily was raised under the impression that she is invulnerable, and recent times have done little to disprove this notion -- she's more than open to new experiences and taking risks just because she can get away with it. She will take orders -- even if they're given rudely -- as long as they make sense, and won't argue to save her non-existent pride. She has no temper to speak of, and possesses average book smarts at best.
She often confuses obligation with loyalty, and only more so after meeting with Quetzalcoatl -- but as a general rule, loyalty is indicated by the fact you aren't helping her further her goal of the moment. She has an active sex life and sees no reason to justify or be ashamed of this -- however, in contrast, physical gestures of a platonic nature are both irritating and pointless.

Initially, Lily added little to battles -- despite her attitude she had never actually been in a scrap, and was oblivious at even how to throw a decent punch. Luckily, she still figured out how to hit something with something else, and her complete lack of fucks to give meant it looked like she knew exactly what was going on. No-one thought to even question her.
She'd be loathe to admit it, but she's much more a defensive fighter than an offensive one -- she has average strength that is never augmented by magical artefacts, and both her speed and agility barely pass for "okay" at the best of times. However, Lucas is the only one whose endurance surpasses her own, and she can take a lot of damage before falling.
Her main use comes when she's coupled with her snake -- he's extremely agile and easily supports her weight, making them a force to be reckoned with in the sky. Her personal area of expertise is poisons, and this works well with her blow gun. but if caught on the ground her best option is to run away -- she struggles to hold her own in close combat.

More than once the offer has been made to fix this glaring weakness, but she refuses -- her belief is that if she was meant to know such things, her father would have interfered and commanded it. She picks up basic punching and blocking as the war drags on, but never with much enthusiasm; when she goes freelance, her attacks rely even more heavily on poison as opposed to things being struck. Unsurprisingly, her abilities port well to firearms.
Of everyone, she is the only one to accept her transformation with excitement -- she loves what she becomes, and sees nothing wrong with evolving into a monster. The fact she never attains the title of a goddess is just as much deliberate as destiny -- she's much happier running errands for her father and attending to the blood sacrifices than having any personal ambitions. In the end of it all, she doesn't even miss Lucas that much.

PAST
Once upon there was a pretty waitress struggling to make ends meet, who suddenly found herself less pretty, still struggling, and now with an adorable baby daughter. Arguably, there were questions that should be answered -- Who is the father? Where has he gone? When had this even happened? -- but such things were best left to smarter women than she, while her attention was dominated by answering things such as How am I going to make rent this month?
Lily was a quiet child, keeping mostly to herself and avoiding any significant drama until she hit her teens -- at that point she realized puberty existed and she had control over her own body, and decided to experiment in every way possible. There was no Strong Male Role Model in her life, but she still managed to figure things out okay. Even at this stage, the only thing that held her interest for long was her camera.
And overnight!! all that changed!! She began skipping curfew, getting caught with her conquests in all sorts of places, and even doing drugs. It was a disaster, really, almost like she was trying to start something. Lily shrugged her mother's concerns off, dropped out of school, and pursued freelance photography until she had enough money for her own nefarious purposes... which turned out to be moving away, dropping all study completely, and becoming obsessed with her hobby. She maintained a strained relationship with her mother out of obligation, and was otherwise content with her bland existence.
?? And then Quetzalcoatl came for tea and suddenly Lily had both a pet and a goal in life, and neither could be ignored. This seemed like a completely logical turn of events, and she never stopped to doubt his claims for even a moment.

Lucas Although Lucas was entirely forgettable and little more than background noise, she decided they were bros after they ended up being forced to fight evil dogs and a vicious little girl together. She obviously likes and trusts him, on account of occasionally choosing to protect his dumb ass rather than get a photo of it being kicked. |
Mei Mei is the most kawaii and optimistic, and Lily isn't entirely sure how she feels about that -- so she initiates a lot of contact to find out how this can be used for her entertainment. However, it is just a game, and she isn't cut up when they never talk again. Xander She would have no problem admitting Xander is the most intelligent of them all, and only slightly more admitting she keeps a wary eye on him because of this. They are neither close nor enemies, and she feels no need to argue with his decisions once he becomes leader. Coatl Lily protects it viciously and adores it with every fibre of her being -- but she never doubts it is only a pet, and never treats it as an equal. However, she openly dotes on it, and it pleases her that it exists. |
Quetzacoatl Lily had no problem believing Quetzacoatl is a god, and is unfailing in her adoration -- she's more amused by this turn of events than anything. She feels indebted for what he has given her and strives to impress him, although she still has no interest in fulfilling her potential. She is both fascinated by and attracted to him, platonically speaking. Mother Once she realized that having a real relationship with her mother would require effort, Lily all but gave up. They still talk occasionally, but are distant at best -- there is no doubt her mother loves her and only wishes the best, but that doesn't make her actions any less irritating. Lexi Lily considers her to be a competent leader, but that's as far as it stretches. Her orders are usually followed, but there's no personal loyalty or affection between them -- the only mutual feeling they share is wariness. . |
