-- HELLO, LEXI IS A JELLYFISH. She sort of just cruises around, minding her own business, and then fucks the shit up of anyone who interrupts her --
Essentially, Lexi is spoiled and kind of selfish -- she lives in her own bubble where she can do what-she-wants when-she -wants, so long as it doesn't embarrass anyone later on. She's pro at sneaking about and has zero respect for authority, since laws are clearly for people dumb enough to get caught. She has no real goals in life and expects to get away with avoiding responsibility forever. Though fairly intelligent, her aversion to ~wasting her time~ with study makes her an awful student, and she just barely coasts by on decent test scores. She retains information quickly if discussing it aloud, but not so much through reading alone. Given the choice, she will always choose what comes easily over something that she's passionate about but requires effort. Her further education consists of a lazy effort at law school. (Deciding she's right comes the most easily.) Rarely does Lexi make an actual mistake, and even more rarely does she admit it -- she automatically assumes she gets a free pass because she's awesome, and obviously everyone else must think so too. |
Her monkeysphere is inhabited by Raf alone, so being insensitive and dismissive isn't malicious, but it is common. She can read people fairly well and is fully capable of being persuasive, but these are things that require effort, and she'd rather not bother. She gets attention easily, and therefore enjoys being social in both small and large groups; she never embarrasses herself in social situations. She tends towards being territorial if there's an actual threat to something she's claimed, and has zero qualms exacting revenge for even imagined slights. Generally that's the end of it, though there is a limit to her forgiveness, and she can be a tad dramatic. If someone genuinely bugs her, she will go out of her way to annoy the shit out of them.
Lexi is easily entertained, but quick to bore -- she's not particularly interested in new things that don't involve her directly, but will try anything once if the invitation is worded the right way and can be aggressively competitive. Dancing is very important to her, because although she does okay with other forms of expression, she genuinely loves dance and isn't afraid to improve her skill at it. Because of this she's athletic, and has great balance.
She has no religious beliefs or faith in the spiritual, and has never seen this as a flaw. She thinks it's cute other people have imaginary friends, but won't usually try and discuss it. She would much rather talk about how nice her ass looks in these jeans, thanks.

Against her own expectations and obvious appearances, Lexi takes quickly to being a scion in the war -- it takes longer for her to come into her own as a leader, but it does happen. Raf's fascination with things that went bump in the night provided her with significant knowledge at the outset, and it was easy enough to fake it until she figured out the rest. She depends heavily on Xander and his tactical advice, since her default plan is to make everyone else run screaming towards the nearest monster and hope for the best.
She doesn't possess a shit ton of brute strength, and her attacks rely on agility and dexterity, with a side order of precision. Her reflexes are fantastic, but her proclivity towards counter-attacking is a result of training, making it entirely possible to catch her off-guard (much to her chagrin). Her stealth skills were already pretty good, and are hardly hurt by Raf's ring granting her the ability to walk through shadows.
Persephone herself arms her scion with a bident -- the material is sourced from Hades itself, very dramatically -- and Lexi despises it, being much more comfortable with smaller weapons such as knives or clubs. She struggles with hand-to-hand combat and is easily overpowered, blaming this on her useless stick. Vlad ignores her complaints and forces her to become more comfortable with it; she eventually learns to argument the weapon with prancing about like a dick and ducking into dark corners, but she never particularly likes it, and uses it more for the look than any practical purpose.
Having such close ties to a death goddess grants Lexi the theoretical ability to summon ghosts to fight at her side or provide her with information, but she has obvious doubts about this since when they do bother to show up, they're pretty much fucking useless.
Later, she claims the title of a vengeance goddess in an attempt to be as opposing to her deity as humanly possible. She's accepted to be the one who punishes the living on behalf of the newly dead, and often rather violently. She is very active and well-known for interfering in the affairs of other gods to further her own agenda -- but invoking her is not a task that is taken lightly, as mortal problems are generally beneath her attention, and she doesn't appreciate having her time wasted.
Lexi is associated with the dusk and purple flowers, though the ones she grows herself are blood-red. The feud between Vlad and her is a rumour at best -- it would raise her street cred for it to be common knowledge, but she has no interest in exploiting it for something so unimportant as gaining power.

Once upon a time there was a handsome mortal who had a fight with his wife, and so they decided a trial separation was the answer. He met and had a whirlwind romance with a very pretty lady named Persephone, who disappeared very suddenly. He was sad, but then his wife came back, and he stopped being so sad!!
Nine months later Persephone showed back up, plopped a newborn baby in his lap, declared her name was Lexi, and frolicked away inset the sunset. The baby was spoiled to buggery out of a combination of guilt (from him), bewilderment (from his wife), and love (eventually, from them both). She grew up very happy (but also kind of dumb). When she was five, Lexi met Raf, when he stole apples from her apple tree!! They were instantly attached at the hip and grew up together, doing all sorts of petty crimes and rolling around being lazy and awesome. (He was a bad influence on her, you know.) |
Eventually, rather than putting effort into being a real dancer (which she loved), she decided to go to law school (which is easy!!). She fudges her way through it and makes some neat friends, and there's always plenty of time for parties!!
"Hello Lexi, I am your mother, and you are my most favourite scion!! Here are your magic powers and off you go TIME TO FIGHT MONSTERS make mommy proud ok kiss kiss xoxo"

RELATIONSHIPS
Raf Bffs 5eva -- they met when they were little kids, and were instantly inseparable. Their spats are violent and often cruel, but they're both lazy and the adoration is mutual, so they are also quickly forgotten. Occasionally they tumble into bed together. They tend to bounce off each other's energy, and neither needs much encouragement to do something vaguely illegal. His death causes her mild distress. Read More | Gallery | Playlist | Fiction Xander Lexi's second-in-command and old law-school buddy. She considers him worthy of being listened to, and genuinely likes him. Mei Initially irritated by the timid and optimistic girl, Lexi abruptly decides to make her a pet project and becomes her bff. No-one is quite sure what to make of this, let alone Mei. Mortal family Her father sees Lexi as a constant reminder of a foolish mistake, but loves and dotes on her from afar, while she sulks and craves his approval. Her mother is pushed away once Lexi realizes they aren't actually related. The most she gets from her attempts at bonding is cold silence and terse words. Brook hates Lexi for ruining her Happy Family, and wages a bitter war over it, despite only receiving idle disinterest in return. Brook is a dick. And her full name is Brook-Lyn, which explains a lot. |
Vlad Given the chance, they would kill each other -- they're as close to enemies as they can be considering they're on the same team and he's her personal mentor. She finds his arrogance and abrasive nature intolerable, and he thinks she's an ignorant, spoiled piece of shit. Neither is wrong. They're kind of mutually awful, but if it wasn't for the other always in their way, they would be a hell of a lot worse. Eventually they develop a vague comradery, once he's sent to track her down and slit her throat. Read More | Gallery | Playlist | Fiction Lucas With his buttons so easy to push, it's inevitable Lexi would see him as a fun toy. He genuinely hates her, but the feeling is not mutual. The fact she respects him as a fighter is easy to miss. Lily Having proven herself to be capable of holding her own and displaying some amount of intelligence, Lily is mostly left alone. However, Lexi watches her with some suspicion, not quite sure if she's part of the team or just killing time until Quetzacoatl calls. Joe While Joe provides an important service and Lexi indulges in the sanctuary he offers, she finds betrayal when she discovers the truth and he finds it when he discovers Vlad. Neither of them hold a grudge. Persephone Their relationship is awkward and strained, and no-one wants to talk about. Lexi follows her orders and runs her errands, but it's not out of loyalty of love -- she resents her for not being the mother she was raised to believe she was (or should be), and blatantly resents her for this. Persephone, for her part, doesn't even care. |
